From the Association

The Fall Conference was well attended considering the tight budgets most Agencies faced. Former G.B.I. Agent John Cagle gave a very interesting briefing on the Appalachian Trail Serial Killer. Agent Cagle provided several points as to what worked well and some areas that could have gone better. The suspect is being investigated by Florida and North Carolina investigators for crimes that occurred in their jurisdictions. Det. Gary Atchison of the Citrus County, Florida Sheriff’s Office gave a presentation on the Jessica Lunsford case. Everyone’s interest was well maintained by Det. Atchison’s delivery. It was interesting that Agent Cagle and Det. Atchison both had the same opinion of Nancy Grace based on their experience with her. A presentation on the F.B.I.’s Evidence Response Team was given by a North Carolina Team member. ATF Agent Rhonda Trahern, a member of the Behavioral Analysis Unit, gave an informative presentation on Arson Related Homicides. The cases Trahern used to illustrate her presentation, especially those used by a parent to kill their children, were frightening and interesting. Agent Trahern also provided a presentation on Geographical Profiling done by her Unit. FBI Agent James Beasley gave a presentation in the area of Child Abduction / Homicide: Offenders in their Own Words. FBI Analysts Raleigh and Graham covered Interstate Murder Investigation Techniques. Capt. Larry Trotter of the Cumberland Co. S.O. gave a presentation of Cold Case Investigation. Read More...
